High on my list of places to visit was the Amsterdam Public Library, a stunning building I'd first seen 3 years ago. Of course Amsterdam, population c. 750,000, could produce a big and fantastic building. But many of the ideas in it could inspire little Winter Park. (You can choose your preferences from the pix below.)
It's on the waterfront, in a prominent position:
Look over the front door: a bar (access inside from an elevator separated from the rest of the library).
Here's the view from inside, as you exit.
Inside the front on the left, downstairs, is the big children's area. I love the stairs.

I love this one: Get cut-rate tickets to same day performances.
And the machine to purchase them.
A mezzanine area over the reference desk is showing an art nouveau exhibit.
All kinds of seating options. There were several of these 2-person study pods on one floor.
Computers ringed the escalator space on just about every floor.
Window nooks provided more seating options.
A large part of one floor was organized with tables for group work.
On the top floor, a huge restaurant (this is only a part of it) with a terrace for views of the river.
